What Does this Thyroid Ultrasound test Result Mean?
I did thyroid ultrasound a couple days ago. This is the findings: The right lobe of the gland measures 4.3cm in length x 16 x 12 mm. The left lobe measures 4.2cm x 17 x 12mm. In the mid right lobe there is a 2 x 3 mm hypoechogenicity compatible with a colloid nodule. An echogenicity at the media junction of mid and lower thirds of the right lobe measures 5 x 2mm. A colloid nodule in the lower pole measures 2 x 3mm. On the left side there are two hypoechogenicities at the upper pole measuring around 2mm, and 4 x 3mm respectively, and two others in the junction of mid and lower thirds measuring 2 and 3mm. The remainder of the thyroid echogenicity and structure are otherwise normal. The vascular flow is normal on Doppler assessment.
Suspicious of cancer. Based on the ultrasound scan report you have multinodular goiter which is suspicious of cancer. Consult your surgeon for further evaluation which may need a fine-needle biopsy to take a small sample of cells for further analysis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
